Miscellany for a Wednesday Evening

PHOTO OF THE DAY

Why? Because I liked the light and the patterns on the silt of Turnagain Arm at low tide. Click to enlarge and you'll see.

That's all.

I FLY IN MY TAXI, or, WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

So, suppose you'd had one or three too many and your helpful, friendly beverage master calls a taxi for you. "Just lookin' out for you, man. You know how those Seward cops."

And you thank him kindly, say your good-byes, and stumble to the front door of this fine establishment to await your ride.

Then you see this coming towards the curb.

Uh, oh. It's your cab.

So, you walk around the back....

Now tell me, who needs the cab more? You? Or the taxi driver?

NOBODY KNOWS HOW THANKFUL I AM:

Nobody's gonna care a whit about this but me. I opened a new case of litter bags and noticed something different.

Rather than the bags being folded in bundles of halves, they were folded lengthwise and lengthwise again. This is exactly what I do with them. Now, since they're already folded lengthwise twice,

this means I can lay them out on the tailgate,

fold them just the way I want them,

and slip them in my fanny pack. Saves me a couple steps and makes them more controllable in the wind.

Dang, whoever thought of that--good on ya', mate!

ROLLIN', ROLLIN', ROLLIN' ON THE RIVER:

I don't know what you call this things....

but there were two of them at Tern Lake today.

HAUTE COUTURE:

Dahlings, isn't it ever so cool when your eyes match the color of your outfit?

EVERYBODY'S A CRITIC:

I've been writing a lot about bears lately, how I was planning to zap one with my can of bear spray if one got too close to me. This is the top of the driveway on a vacant lot I own, which is about a hundred yards from where I live.

This is what a bear left for me at the top of that driveway.

Like I said, everybody's a critic.

  1. I really enjoyed this "miscellany" post.

Who or what left those footprints in the silt? Even bears would disappear at the sight of him or it!

One look at Mad Jack's taxi and I opt to walk!

Regarding the trash bags, what a pleasant surprise to have some of your folding task done for you.

Whatever they're paddling, it looks pretty cool, although uncomfortable for standing or even sitting for long periods.

Doggy's very beautifully color coordinated for any and every occasion.

    Great fun, Gully.
