Labor Day Weekend, Part Five: Fair Stuff

So what would you expect to find at an Alaskan fair?

Snowplows. Right?

Humongous rotary snow blowers, right?

Dog sleds....

I didn't know the Troopers had dog sleds...

Note cards with an Alaskan theme....

Alaskana books...

A raffle to benefit the Iditarod sled dog race. This is the red truck I didn't win.

And this is the black truck I didn't win....

Alaskan themed shops...

And Alaskan grown flowers.

But, the Alaska State Fair has other stuff, too.

A teddy bear stuffer....

A wax hand holding a turtle, which was a lovely pastel shade of sea foam green until the guy asked the boy what other color he'd like....

...and he chose blue. Boys ALWAYS choose blue.

And the ever-popular face paintings....

and the hair concoctions...

And colorful bags...

and handmade quilts....

Diamond willow walking sticks....

with a close up of the diamond...

A garden dedicated to the victims of Alzheimer's.....

and more Alaskan grown flowers...

One more post about the fair and then I'll tell you about an adventure I had the next day. Stay tuned.

  2. I'd love to see a book about Alaska written by you for sale at the fair. Maybe next year?
