Mongolia, A Report from the Field: Don't Fence Me In

Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies above,

Don't fence me in

Sar (harrier)

Let me ride through the wide open country that I love,

Don't fence me in

Let me be by myself in the evenin' breeze,

listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees,

Send me off forever but I ask you please,

Don't fence me in

Vulture

Just turn me loose, let me straddle my old saddle

Underneath the western skies

On my horse, let me wander over yonder

Till I see the mountains rise

I want to ride to the ridge where the west commences

gaze at the moon till I lose my senses

I can't look at hobbles and I can't stand fences

Don't fence me in

Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies,

Don't fence me in

Let me ride through the wide open country that I love,

Don't fence me in

Let me be by myself in the evenin' breeze

listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees

Send me off forever but I ask you please,

Don't fence me in

Just turn me loose, let me straddle my old saddle

Underneath the western skies

On my horse, let me wander over yonder

Till I see the mountains rise

I want to ride to the ridge where the west commences

gaze at the moon till I lose my senses

I can't look at hobbles and I can't stand fences

Don't fence me in

  1. Beautiful pictures and lyrics. Reminds me a lot of Wyoming.

  2. You chose the perfect lyrics to accompany your photos of Mongolia. You and your camera captured every scene magnificently.

  3. I keep going back to view your photos again and again. I love them all: the horse and rider silhouette, the blue of the water, the golden brown of the line of trees in contrast to the snow, the buildings in their settings, the rider going away from the camera....I could go on and on and eventually mention every single one. They're relaxing and beautiful to gaze upon.

    Thanks,
    Shaddy

  4. The only thing more entertaining than your magnificent pictures and appropriate lyrics was actually having been there beside you when many of these pictures were taken. You certainly captured the mystique and raw beauty! Great job! Hugs. Patti and Cap
