Out to Lunch
Such a nice photo. A beautiful bald eagle sitting on a stout cottonwood limb, fish lunch clasped firmly in its talons.
But, oh my, it could have been so much better. Just a minute before I took this photo, a juvenile eagle has been sitting right next to it on the same limb.
I stopped the car and got out to take a memorable photograph. The limb stuck out over the highway a bit and just as I raised my camera, a passing vehicle honked at me and .....off flew the juvenile.
Ah, well, this one is pretty good after all.

What a difference a second or two makes when taking photos. I know how disappointing it can be when the photo we want so badly want is snatched away. And yet, only you knew this picture could be even better.

How MANY times I have heard Cap say, "Oh, I want to get THAT picture," only to come back and say, "Shucks, I just missed it." This IS a great picture of the eagle with the fish in its talons, and I feel like I can 'almost' see the juvenile that flew away! Another winner!! Hugs. Patti

ReplyDeleteDo I know how you feel. At least you are not blaming yourself. My issue is this: I have the perfect shot. I have it! I am focused and fiddling to get it framed just so. And then the scene is gone. I am left with ' My Committee ' sounding off at ME. You had it YOU messed it up. A sunset is a prime example. How many times have I lost the perfect shot trying to get it just so. A second or two can change the sunset scene.
Here is how this applies to you. The car honks and the scene is gone. YOU say to YOU .. "IF only I would have parked my car further off the road that car would not have honked.".. and YOUR Committee springs into action against YOU.
Smiles..
At least I have the luxury of editing my photos before I post them, unlike you who posts them directly from the camera. I can straighten the horizon, adjust the lighting, etc. I even removed a power line in one Mongolia photo.
ReplyDeleteOh My Goodness .. You what? You removed a power line from a photo up here? I DO have a 'card reader' so I suppose I could do some photo trickery. Clement from France is a magician with photos and correcting them. Smiles ..
