The Unsub

Does anyone know what this thing is?

It's about the size of an apple, seems to be yellow inside, and smells like a sweet tropical fruit.

Jim, the friend whose house I'm sitting on and in, bought it some time ago because he didn't know what it was. Just before he and Jan left on vacation, they told me to eat it when it's ripe.

If I don't know what it is, how am I supposed to know when it's ripe? I must say, it is a little softer today than it was yesterday when I cut a small slice out of it, just to see if anything escaped...I mean, what color it was.

Besides, if Mikey (Jim) wouldn't eat it, why should I?

  1. Nope. I haven't a clue. If I were you, I'd taste it and if I liked it, I'd eat it. If not, pitch it.

It doesn't look harmless but I suspect it is.

  2. Could it be a cherimoya? I ate those when I was an exchange student in Peru way back in 1968. Yummy and custardy on the inside, if that's what it is.
