The Dichotomy of Spring

The moat around my house is gone,



the driveway's almost clear,





and I don't need the four-wheel drive
to get into my house.



Green things are a-sprouting,




the fern is reaching for the sun,



grass is showing through in places,


revealing voles have had their fun.



So, you think with all those clues
that spring is on the way?
Let me tell you something else:
it snowed again today.
