Oh, crap!

It's been a long time since an earthquake shot my heart to my throat and my stomach to my toes, but the one that just shook, rattled, and rolled through here did.

Let's see...it's 11:08 AM so the quake happened about 11:06.  I'm guessing it was around a 6 Richter-wise.  No biggie but it seemed to last half a lifetime and almost knocked Pablo off his perch. Plus, because it just kept going and going, there was always the possibility that "the big one" was on its way.

I actually have a feeling of nausea from the rolling that interspersed the sharp jerking.  Several minutes later, I'm still not sure it's ended.  I have that feeling that I've just gotten off a boat and my gyroscope hasn't returned to normal.

Only one way to think about earthquakes up here in Shakyland and that's to think of them as relieving the pressure so another 1964 whopper doesn't happen.

I'm going to be off-kilter all day.  I swear I can feel the earth quivering yet.

(Preliminary measurement is 5.2, 50 miles SW of Anchorage, which puts it across the Kenai Peninsula from me.)

  1. I'm so glad you are okay! Except for the shaky wobbly feeling, that is. I've only actually felt one once in my life (even tho we've had them here in Oregon), and that was enough. Be good to yourself the rest of the day!
