I had the pleasure of an escort service as I began the long hundred mile drive home from Anchorage this evening, after a long day of running errands. The little white blip in the water at the lower right hand corner of the photo is a beluga whale, one of at least a dozen that were making their way up Turnagain Arm with the incoming tide.
I heard beluga on the half shell is quite a treat. Just kidding. What an awesome thing to be able to capture. I was fishing off the coast of Marco Island in Fla. when dolphins decided to play besides the boat. Of course I didn't have a camera with me, but it was too cool, even if they did splash me. Post more pics before the snow starts flying, although that is a different kind of beauty.
