Meanwhile, down at Tern Lake

It's definitely spring and the summer folk are arriving daily.

Eagle seeking other location.

The gull in the upper right objects to the eagle's choice of location.

Seagulls are chasing away the eagle.   They were too far away for my 200mm zoom lens.

See the white line in the foreground?   That's the fog line on the main highway of the Kenai peninsula.

The swans are pulling up vegetation from the lake bottom.   The ducks are there to enjoy the free  floating leftovers

  1. Great Photos Jeanne! I'm going back with my good camera. I was looking to see if any of our gulls have returned, gonna take the kids and see if they recognize each other.

    1. The terns are on their way. They come from South America, so it takes a while.

  3. Seagulls chasing away an eagle? Patti and I watched from the coastal trail here in Anchorage .. slightly horrified .. one time when a group of five seagulls were approached by a single eagle. The eagle calmly seized a seagull from the group .. as the other seagulls were going nuts .. and flew away with the captured seagull. To this day we are less-than-thrilled with eagles. As usual .. phenomenal photos .. Smiles .. Cap and Patti ..

    1. It is not pleasant to watch, but eaglets have to eat, too. And the seagulls are not above raiding nests of ducks and terns.
